More importantly though, the width of a kayak is directly connected to its stability. The Virgo is 23″ wide. This is quite narrow, because the kayak prioritizes speed/performance over stability. Recreational kayaks range from 28″ – 36″ wide, because they prioritize stability over speed/performance. The fact that the Virgo is the most stable kayak that you’ve ever tried indicates that you’ve never tried a recreational kayak, which are designed for entry level paddlers.

I probably wouldn’t put a nervous beginner in this kayak. I would be very comfortable putting a more confident beginner in this kayak.

I just don’t understand this comment and Ken Whiting cant actually have padled the Virgo ! The Virgo is the absolutely most stable kayak I have ever tried and definitely a kayak for beginners.
